A New Committee for 2010. The
Club AGM was held 20th May and a new
committee was elected. The club has
decided that representation from each of our
dinghy sailing classes on the committee
would provide vital information when
planning our club activities and provide a
communication link with each dinghy class at
the club. The club wishes
to thank the outgoing officers and committee
for their hard work in developing the club
and turning it around to a growth situation
in membership and sailing activity.
Open Fireball Championships
This will be the biggest sailing event
hosted by the club in well over 20 years.
Michael Campion , our Fireball Class captain
at the club has the organising well under
way. The club will host the
event at UL Activity Centre a short distance
from our club facility. We expect over
25 Fireballs to visit along with most of our
12 local Fireballs.
Accommodation will be locally in the
Killaloe area. Crotty's Pub in
Killaloe will be our nominated watering hole
for the weekend with the apre sail on
Saturday night with music and craic.
We especially welcome all Fireballers who
make the effort to travel to Killaloe for
the weekend. Liam Maloney from
LDYC is Race Officer for the weekend and we
are looking forward to a great sailing
weekend. See more details on notices
for the event.

Mark Donegan and Raithnait Long who are
entering in their First Fireball event

Junior Sailing kicked off Tuesday 26th
May.
Some of our new junior members got out for
their first taste of sailing at Killaloe
Sailing Club in a good westerly breeze.
A number of them have been sailing for a few
years and are also involved in Iniscealtra
SC. Mirrors, Laser 1 and RS Feva took
to the water under the supervision of
Michael Campion. Winds were gusty at
times which resulted in a few capsizes but
all in all smily faces were to be seen as
all came ashore after a most enjoyable first
outing. Philip Despard and Peter
Keogh were busy taking bookings for the
sailing course starting on 9th May for
beginners. Looks like we could fill
another course with the demand at present.
These courses are Irish Sailing
Association certified the first of which
will commence
on Tuesday 9th June for 4 weeks.
