KSC is a thriving and vibrant club with around 300 members half of whom are juniors. Our current facilities are totally unsuitable for a club of our size. We own our 4 acre lake side site but presently all we have is a rather old and dilapidated porta-cabin which provides members with small male and female changing rooms and a single shared toilet plus a boat shed which houses our safety boats and other necessary equipment. There is no electricity supply to the site
In recent years, the club has developed plans to improve our facilities. Given the nature of the site, we have undertaken a full range of wildlife surveys and taken account of the needs of the birds and animals with whom we share the site. In addition, the site is prone to flooding and so our buildings must be sited 0.8m off the ground. Our plan male and female changing rooms with toilets and showers, a common room and small kitchen, raised walkways with ramps and stairs, a covered training area, facilities for the disabled, an enlarged boat shed, a new cark park and an enlarged dinghy park. Planning permission was granted by Clare County Council in January 2018.
The development will cost in the region of €600,000 in total. We hope to fund this with various grants as well as using our own resources. We have developed a five-year cash flow model which confirms the affordability and sustainability of the both the plans we have in place and the club’s long term viability.
Any assistance with funding or sponsorship would be gratefully received.
